90s soap legend making big TV comeback amid serial killer rumour
Sherrie Hewson has confirmed she is returning to Hollyoaks.
The iconic actress arrived in the Channel 4 soap back in May, portraying a character called Martha Blake, who was thought to be the show’s next serial killer.
During her first storyline, fans discovered that her son Jeremy was not only the twin brother of dead Patrick Blake, but also the biological father of Sienna (Anna Passey).
The newcomer ended up holding Jeremy hostage and telling Sienna and Dilly Harcourt (Emma Johnsey-Smith) that she was protecting them from the man. Jeremy claimed his mum had been living with dementia and shortly afterwards, she went to a nursing home.
Despite the fact we haven’t seen Martha since Hollyoaks’ one-year time jump, actress Sherrie has confirmed we will see the character again soon.
‘I am in the next [opening] titles, because I’ve now gone back’, she said on Johnny Seifert’s Secure The Insecure podcast.
‘I was not there in August, this August gone, because they were going on with the time jump.’
‘I’ve been in a home, I think. I’m out of the home now’, she added. ‘I’m back with Sienna now. I’m living with Sienna now, but she’s thrown Jeremy out. But now I think we’re all back. It’s very confusing. I just go and I go, what’s the next scene?’.
It’s possible Martha will be on hand to support Sienna in the aftermath of Ethan’s (Matthew James Bailey) sudden death.
Ethan plummeted to his death during Monday’s (October 7) offering of the Channel 4 soap – on the very day he made his dreams come true in marrying Sienna.
‘I’m absolutely devastated to be leaving the show. I’ve made it clear that this is my home and I never thought it would end the way that it did’, actor Matthew said.
‘I feel like Ethan had a lot more potential and growth in him. I would openly say when I thought it was time for him to step away but, to be honest, I don’t think it was the right time. I don’t think we were finished. So no, it wasn’t my choice. I would never walk away from the show.’
‘I will continue to support and champion the show because it’s always going to have a very special place in my heart but yeah, it wasn’t my choice to go.’
