Marina Squerciati Teases a “Big Big Burzek Episode” with New Patrick John Flueger Pic

The Chicago P.D. actress gave fans even more of a reason to tune into Season 11’s third episode, “Safe Harbor”.

Calling all Burzek shippers: Marina Squerciati is dropping some serious hints about the future for Burgess and Ruzek in Season 11 of Chicago P.D.

On January 30, Squerciati (Kim Burgess) posted a behind the scenes snapshot of her embracing her onscreen beau, Patrick John Flueger (Adam Ruzek). While the picture was super sweet, it was what she put in the Instagram caption that contains the potential juicy-ness.

“When you’re trying to post a cheesy prom pic and your partner cannot keep a straight face. SO RUDE. Anyway, BIG BIG BIG BIG BURZEK episode Wednesday. If you love me you’ll watch it. There I said it. #chicagopd #burzekarmy #burzek #chicago #tvcouple #padrina,” she mysteriously wrote on the post.

But what could it mean for the characters’ notoriously complicated relationship? Season 11, Episode 3 of Chicago P.D. — titled “Safe Harbor” — airs January 31 at 10/9c on NBC. And it’s a Burgess-centered episode.

Burgess and Ruzek’s relationship in Chicago P.D. Season 10

When we left Burgess and Ruzek off in Season 10, they had a breakthrough therapy session where they reconnected emotionally, and then they reconnected physically shortly after (if you catch our drift).

In a 2023 interview with NBC Insider, Patrick John Flueger gave his insight as to why he thinks Burgess and Ruzek are so compatible.

“I think it has to do with balance,” he told us. “I think it’s just they balance each other out.  They just collectively calm each other down and, you know, validate each other’s strengths and make up for each other’s weaknesses.”

Showrunner Gwen Sigan also gave some insight into what’s to come for their relationship this season.

“They’ve been in that same space that we left them in, which is they’re very committed to each other,” Sigan tells us. “[They’re] very committed to this new life together and being romantically involved, and also being a family and being parents together. Being all the things. So, that has been going strong.”

She continues, “This season, we really wanted to focus on these two people have made this choice that they’re in it for the long haul. They’re grown-ups. They know what that means. They know that it’s like any relationship. It’s not going to be easy all the time. It will be work, but that they are so committed to each other.”
