Samantha Shocks the Family With a Life-Changing Decision [Spoiler]
Today on Beyond the Gates, Laura receives a difficult prognosis, Samantha makes an important decision about her future, and Kat and Eva’s rivalry heats up.
We begin at Garland Memorial, where Andre is up to business as usual — aka creepily recording nurses from a distance.
The staff is too skittish to speak with him directly, so he stalks some nurses from behind a chair, channeling his inner safari photographer.
Heck, the only good footage he manages to capture is of Ashley getting reprimanded for screwing up a patient’s chart — and she makes him delete it!
That is, until Ashley agrees to another interview… and things get a little too real. After one question about Derek, she completely falls apart, revealing that she’s been hiding how scared his job as a firefighter makes her.
Leslie Dishes Out Some Bad Medicine
Too bad Andre’s missing the most interesting thing happening in the hospital — Leslie and her latest wig are skulking around the halls, conspiring to keep Laura from returning to work.
Leslie’s newest persona is “LuLu,” a recent transfer who doesn’t fool Shanice for a second. She smells the lies on Leslie’s breath during their brief interaction, which becomes more suspicious with each new lie.
Speaking of Laura, the doctors have good news and bad news for Nicole’s former assistant: while there’s no long-term damage from the injury, she has developed an infection (thank you, Leslie!), so they’re keeping her there “for the foreseeable future.”
This is music to Leslie’s ears, which only makes Eva more suspicious. Could her mother really have caused Laura’s accident? (Yes, she did!)
Samantha Sends Chelsea Down a New Path
To celebrate Samantha’s runway debut, Chelsea shows up at the Richardsons’ townhouse with flowers, photos and words of wisdom.
Chelsea does her best to paint the modeling industry as a pit of vipers, but it doesn’t seem to deter Samantha. Just call her Indiana Jones.
Then comes a twist Chelsea doesn’t see coming: Samantha wants to become a full-time model — and she wants Chelsea to manage her!
Even more surprising, Chelsea basically agrees to do it, assuming Martin and Smitty approve of her new career path.
Nicole Reminds Kat That She’s #TeamEva
After discovering Kat’s hidden camera in her home office, a furious Nicole rips into her daughter, calling her “someone I don’t recognize” anymore, someone lacking “manners, good sense and compassion.”
And who’s listening to Kat’s lecture from the other side of the door? Why, Eva, of course! And she’s loving every second of it.
Kat doubles down on her suspicions, but Nicole won’t hear it. “I don’t like her” isn’t a good enough reason for Kat to continue her vendetta against Eva.
Is Tomás Encouraging Kat and Eva’s Feud?
But we wouldn’t count on that vendetta ending anytime soon.
Mere moments after Kat invites Tomás to her upcoming birthday party, he bumps into Eva at Orphey Gene’s, where they engage in some flirty behavior of their own.
Tomás doesn’t even get upset when Eva speaks badly about Kat. Are we imagining it, or is Tomás enjoying their little rivalry?
Eva Plots Her Next Move
Meanwhile, Nicole and Ted are trying to figure out what to do about Eva when Laura (eventually) returns to work.
Ted suggests they set Eva up with a hairstyling gig at the country club, and Nicole loves the idea. Eva, listening from her usual spot on the other side of the door, isn’t as excited.
