Martin Threatens to Expose His Own ‘Terrible’ Secret — But What Is It?!
on Beyond the Gates, Martin’s secret pushes him to his breaking point, Tyrell’s bullying situation worsens and Ted almost catches Eva at Leslie’s house.
It’s a beautiful afternoon at the Richardsons’ townhouse, where Martin is enjoying yet another midday terror, offering a closer look at the big secret everyone’s so eager to protect.
This time, in addition to the usual car noises, we also see a crowbar — probably the weapon used in whatever attack is being covered up.
But Martin isn’t in any mood to discuss his traumatic past, and he resents Smitty’s assertions that his secrecy is being passed down to their children.
Tyrell Goes Viral
Speaking of their kids’ secrets, Smitty has apparently been spying on Tyrell at school like a psycho, but none of his sources have come through with any pertinent information about his black eye.
If only they could just ask Samantha, who’s texting one of her friends about the picture of Tyrell that’s getting around school. According to the friend, “everyone” has seen it at this point.
Ted Pays Leslie Off
Ted surprises Leslie at home, and he’s not there to make nice. He doesn’t even bat an eye when she threatens to scream for help, promising “a performance worthy of Viola Davis.” So you know he’s all business.
Indeed, he drops the $50,000 she requested on the table and tells her to get the hell out of his life — for good this time.
“It’s not like you’ve got any kids tying you down,” Ted tells Leslie, which is a really classy thing to say to the woman you forced to get an abortion. So she decides to have a little more fun with her old flame, threatening to call Nicole and let her in on their secret past.
Are Eva’s Days as Nicole’s Assistant Numbered?
Meanwhile, Eva is at Garland Memorial, finally meeting the poor girl that Leslie ran off the road. Laura is recovering faster than expected, so Eva’s time as Nicole’s assistant will soon be over.
And maybe that’s a good thing. Eva comes home just as Ted and Leslie are at their most heated, narrowly avoiding him on his way out. It’s a close call — too close for Eva’s comfort — but Leslie tells her not to worry. With Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party coming up, it’s almost time to execute their master plan anyway.
Then again, maybe Eva’s time with the Richardsons isn’t over just yet. Nicole tells Ted that she might need two personal assistants moving forward, and he’s glad to hear it.
Plus, Leslie sneaks into Laura’s room and messes with her IV, so that recovery process is probably about to hit a snag. (Side note: Where does Leslie keep all these wigs?!)
Martin’s Secret Is Crushing Him
A stressed-out Martin confides in Vernon and Anita about his nightmares, admitting that the weight of his secret is crushing him. Still, they stress the importance of keeping it quiet.
“What happened was terrible, but to have it exposed — for this secret to come out — would be worse than any bad dreams,” Anita tells him.
And just like that… we’re no closer to knowing what the heck happened.
