‘Beyond the Gates’ Daphnee Duplaix Swoons Over Co-Star Keith D. Robinson’s Take on Chris Brown’s ‘Residuals’
As viewers of Beyond the Gates have just watched, Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) and her husband, Ted Richardson’s (Maurice Johnson) marriage completely imploded after revelations came to light that Ted cheated on Nicole decades ago with Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), the result of which he fathered a daughter, Eva (Ambyr Michelle).
After Monday’s episode, Nicole kicked Ted out of their house and was left crying in the arms of her daughter, Kat (Colby Mohammed) when all was said and done. With Leslie’s mission accomplished, how can Ted and Nicole find a way back to each other?
Next week beginning with the May 15th episode, Keith D. Robinson takes over the role of Dr. Ted Richardson played from the very beginning of the new soap by Maurice Johnson. While the jury is out on the Ted swap, Robinson, who is a noted vocalist having appeared in the musical version of Dreamgirls and much more, took to his Instagram with a song and some lyrics fitting of the troubled times the Richardson marriage finds itself in.

Singing along with Chris Brown’s 2023 single, Residuals where the lyrics include: “One minute I’m cool and then the next I’m tripping, no. With somebody new, I swear she don’t deserve this. Wasted on my mind, she still on my mind. Do we build it up, build it up, just to let it wash away? Tell me did I lace you up, lace you up. Just to watch you run away?”
Accompanying the singing post, Keith wrote, “Something Ted would say ….” Next, his co-star Daphnee Duplaix responded, after hearing him sing along with the Brown track, “I’ll take you back!!!!! lol 🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍😍😍😍” So, with Keith D. Robinson about to premiere on Beyond the Gates, might we find at some point, Ted serenading Nicole to win her back? Stay tuned.
