Hollyoaks ‘confirms’ JJ Osborne comeuppance as he is ‘exposed’ in dark Oscar twist

Trigger warning: This article contains discussion of child sexual abuse.

JJ Osborne’s (Ryan Mulvey) days are numbered in Hollyoaks after Oscar (Noah Holdsworth) makes a game-changing discovery, finding a video of him attacking Frankie (Isabelle Smith) on a laptop.

Frankie, as viewers know, was hospitalised a number of weeks ago after she fell down the stairs following a showdown with Nancy (Jessica Fox).

Nancy got the blame, with Frankie pressured by manipulative twin brother JJ to tell the police that she was pushed by her stepmum. In reality, however, JJ is responsible, having attacked Frankie – prior to the stairs showdown – with his football boot, which is what led to her collapse.

JJ, as fans know, is sexually abusing Frankie, with the long-running soap tackling a storyline that explores the common but under-recognised form of child sibling sexual abuse.

Frankie has made its very clear to JJ that she wants him to stop the abuse, with the abuser claiming earlier this year that he would do just that. He lied and raped her in subsequent scenes.

Nancy, meanwhile, has been forced to move out of her home at 17 Basswood Road following Frankie’s claim that she pushed her down the stairs.

The two had been arguing moments before Frankie fell, but that was after JJ had already attacked his sister with a football boot.

Frankie had previously called JJ a ‘freak’, revealing that she wants to go to dance school in London to get away from him.

Following the incident, JJ demanded that Frankie put Nancy in the frame, claiming that he’ll stop abusing her if she does so. Nancy has therefore become public enemy number one, while JJ believes that he’s out of the woods.

Little does he know, however, that Frankie’s tablet recorded what really happened on that night.

Next week, Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) and Oscar head to the hospital to see Frankie, but the whole thing turns out to be a ruse, with Nancy entering moments later, demanding to know what happened. Will Frankie come clean?

It seems unlikely at this stage but not all hope is lost, with Oscar subsequently asking Frankie for her laptop to do some homework, stumbling upon the video of JJ attacking his sister.

JJ, however, catches him watching it and proceeds to threaten him.

Frankie, meanwhile, is delighted when she finds out that she’s been accepted into dance school but her attention is soon elsewhere when Oscar asks her about the video. Frankie tries to downplay it but she makes it very clear that she’s scared of JJ – and he should be too.

After giving the situation some more thought, Frankie later resolves to tell the police that JJ was the one who attacked her – not Nancy. JJ panics and thus reiterates his previous promise, vowing never to touch her again if she keeps shtum, but will Frankie follow through on her plan?

That remains to be seen but Oscar is on the case regardless and, later, he discovers the golden football boot covered in blood.
Frankie pleads with Oscar to forget what he saw and simply move on but Nancy picks up on her son’s strange behaviour. Without wasting a second, she heads to Basswood Road to take Oscar with her – but the rest of the household share their concerns over such a thing.

Nancy therefore issues them with a warning, revealing that – without a shadow of a doubt – the truth will come out.

Will Oscar do the right thing and reveal all, confirming Nancy’s innocence in the process? Or will JJ’s threats leave him terrified of doing so?
