One Chicago star eager to resume production: ‘I’ve missed it!’

It’s a good time to be a One Chicago fan. The franchise is back up and running after the resolution of the writers and actors strike, and production on all three shows will resume after Thanksgiving. It’s been a long time coming, and there’s yet to be an official release date issued by NBC, but it’s an encouraging sign to see the wheels turning after months of delay.

Fans aren’t the only ones feeling this way. Numerous One Chicago stars have voiced excitement over returning to the set, and being able to talk about the upcoming seasons after being forced to keep quiet during the strike. One of these stars in Chicago Med actress Jessy Schram.

Schram recently attended the Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas Holiday Celebration in Los Angeles, and was incredibly enthusiastic about her upcoming Chicago Med schedule. She also confirmed the production start date that was previously announced by Reel Chicago.

“I get to go back to Chicago Med and we’re slated to start from photography on the 27th of November,” she explained. “So right after Thanksgiving, we’re up. All the crews are back. Our cast, our crew, everybody that’s part of it gets to go back to work again.” Schram went on to say that the show doesn’t typically shoot during this time of year, so she is curious to see how the Windy City during the winter compares to the summer.

“I heard Halloween over in Chicago is just pure snow”, she added. “So I’m just soaking up what I can and then ready to immerse myself fully in Chicago because I’ve missed it. I’ve really, really missed it.”

The production schedule isn’t the only thing about Chicago Med that’s different. The show lost some heavy hitters in 2023, including Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Ethan Choi (Brian Tee). These two were main characters since the pilot, and the show will definitely need to bring in replacements in order to make up for their absence.

Fortunately, Chicago Med is already working on it. Per TV Line, the show will bring in a character that will fill one of the doctor roles, and who has a personal connection with the previously set up Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt). No news yet on who will be cast in the role, but we’re excited to see what the new character brings to Gaffney Medical Center.
