“Wait… WHAT?” – Trixie and Katya Expose the Bizarre Drag Race Segment You’ve Never Seen

RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Trixie Mattel and Katya have revealed a bonkers unaired segment that the queens of season seven filmed with RuPaul that never made it to air – where each queen, out of drag, got in the recording studio with mama, before the season.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise is no stranger to bending reality to fit their edit. With seasons upon seasons of the show having aired, each instalment has come with post-show reveals that stunts, reads, reactions to guest judges, critiques and even “whole parts of the day” were filmed, and then cut from the edit.

In the latest edition of whole segments of the show being left on the cutting room floor, comes season seven stars Trixie Mattel and Katya revealing that each queen on the 2015 season filmed an individual interview – and song recording session – with RuPaul before they’d even got into the Werk Room.

Speaking on the The Bald and the Beautiful podcast as part of a season seven RuPaul’s Drag Race recap, the All Stars 3 winner and All Stars 2 finalist shared some details of the wild one-on-one meetings with RuPaul.

“You arrive in LA [to film],” shared Katya, “But we didn’t go to the studio. We go to another studio, fresh off the plane –”.

“Oh this wasn’t even aired!” Trixie added.

“And we walk into a room. And who walks in with a ten-gallon hat? Ru f*cking Paul! RuPaul walks in, and you’re just like, ‘Huhhh!’” Katya continued.

Trixie then said: “You walk into this room, RuPaul is there, and he just sits next to you and asks you questions about your life? But can I be honest; I was impressed by how much she knew. She knew specific details from my audition video, she knew where I was from. Even though I was terrified, it made me feel very seen.”

But the uncut RuPaul’s Drag Race nonsense doesn’t stop there, with Katya revealing that the queens then had to “sing a f**king song in a recording studio,” in another bonkers, unaired segment of the season.

“I’d never been in a recording studio, and I’d never sung in my life. At one point [RuPaul] goes: ‘Come on white boy, find the rhythm!’ And I’m doing the theme the Drag U! It was such a bizarre introduction. Nobody ever saw this.

“I can remember her, in the booth with me, singing: ‘It’s a miracle!’ She was incredible. And then it got hot. It was a nightmare.”

Trixie corroborated the story – and added that she was asked to sing “Geronimo”.

For anyone suffering immediate withdrawals after All Stars 10 crowned a winner, never fear; Drag Race UK vs. the Worlds third season is on the way, and Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale recently confirmed its first ever cast. And the All Stars 11 cast is already kicking about…
