One of TV’s most popular couples split – and fans are devastated
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (October 16) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Fans of Hollyoaks have been left utterly devastated as Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) and Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) have split up.
The popular couple, known as HayRay to viewers of the Channel 4 soap, got together on-screen earlier this year, after Lucas bravely came out and admitted his feelings for Dillon, who was nothing but supportive towards the struggling teen.
But a one-year time jump into the future changed things forever, with the missing 12 months having been quite traumatic for the couple, with Lucas sent to young offenders after he attacked abuser JJ Osborne (Ryan Mulvey) over what he did to Frankie (Isabelle Smith).
Dillon, meanwhile, cheated on jailed Lucas with Leah Barnes (Ela-May Demircan), who subsequently gave birth to his baby.
Baby James therefore is Lucas’ nephew.
The storyline, which received quite a response from upset fans, took another turn earlier this week, with Frankie working out the truth as she ordered Dillon to come clean to Lucas upon his release.
Lucas walked back into the village on Wednesday and wasted little time in reuniting with Dillon, telling him how happy he was to see him.
Dillon, however, felt unable to carry on with the lie and, with Frankie’s ultimatum weighing heavy on him, he decided to call time on his relationship with Lucas.
Lucas was devastated, ordering Dillon to elaborate further, unable to process why his beau would do to this to him.
Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) witnessed the heated showdown and got involved, trying to cool the situation, but Lucas responded by punching him in the face.
Ste (Kieron Richardson) gave his son a telling off, reiterating that violence isn’t the answer and, after some time, Lucas opened up to his dad, telling him that he knows full well something isn’t right about Dillon breaking up with him.
Will he work out the truth? Will Dillon ultimately come clean about having cheated on him with his sister?
That remains to be seen but it’s safe to say that fans are devastated by this latest development.
‘Lucas loves Dillon so much, imagine expressing the fact that they are the reason you managed to get through prison & then not even a minute later they dump you,’ exclaimed one social media user.
‘he looked so devastated & I can totally see Lucas blaming himself… he doesn’t deserve any of this.’
Another agreed, writing: ‘I’m so upset for lucas. This sucks so much.’
Darren added: ‘Truly can’t believe I invested MONTHS of my life into Dillon & Lucas on Hollyoaks for them to do them like that. YOU COULDN’T LET THEM BE HAPPY FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES?!?! #Hollyoaks
