Battle Heats Up: Will Eva Take Down Leslie? And Who Are Martin & Smitty’s Kids?
Wednesday, March 12, 2025: Today on Beyond the Gates, Derek has a medical emergency, Martin's nightmares return and Leslie doubts Eva's commitment to destroying the Richardsons.
We begin at Garland Memorial, where Andre is being an absolute creeper by taking candid shots of Nurse Ashley from a distance.
When she notices, he decides to up his creep factor by giving her a gift, a collage of photos to commemorate the baby she helped deliver in the elevator. Except it’s only one picture of the woman, surrounded by four pictures of Ashley that she didn’t know were being taken. It’s… kind of weird!
“You might be the first person I’ve ever met who doesn’t have a bad side,” he tells her, as if she doesn’t have a boyfriend. And as if he isn’t already in a situationship with Dani. Speaking of Ashley’s boyfriend, the elevator opens to reveal Derek — and he’s in a stretcher!
A CT scan shows that Derek suffered a concussion from a ceiling that fell on him in a burning building. He’s mostly OK, except that he keeps forgetting Ashley’s name. “Don’t worry, I don’t plan on leaving you anytime soon,” he says.
Martin’s Kids Talk Some Sense Into Him
After a long day of hunting down heirloom tomatoes, Smitty comes home to an angry Martin, who has just learned that Smitty is still pursuing potential freelance reporting gigs. “Do you take me as some fool, Smitty?!” Martin asks. (Geez, is this guy Smitty’s husband or his warden? Let him live!)
Smitty reminds him that their kids are basically old enough to take care of themselves — and right on cue, in come Samantha and Tyrell, demanding to know why their dads are fighting. “That’s it? That’s not even interesting,” Samantha says when Martin reveals that Smitty wants to go back to work. “It’s not that serious. Why are you so twisted about dad going back to work?” (Good question!)
Tyrell agrees, telling Martin, “You worry way too much about things that don’t matter anymore.” And while Martin isn’t thrilled about being outnumbered, he admits he’s been defeated, allowing Smitty to take on an assignment and see how it goes. (Gee, how generous.)
When Martin doesn’t immediately come to bed after their argument, Smitty asks if he’s trying to exhaust himself so he doesn’t dream. Martin insists he’s just getting some work emails done, but he later wakes up the entire house with his screams from another night terror.
The McBrides’ Luck Is Changing — and *not* for the Better
At the country club, Vanessa is taken aback by Doug, who’s acting flirtier than usual. She’s also annoyed that he’s keeping her from getting plowed — sorry, getting “trained” — by Diego. Doug’s good mood is a direct result of his improved standing at the casino, and he’s blissfully unaware that Joey is completely manipulating him.
At the diner, Randy begs Joey not to hurt Doug “or worse,” but Joey doesn’t appear sympathetic. “The man’s name matters as little to me as the man himself,” Joey says. “What matters is what he can get me. You need to stop giving a damn about what happens to him.”
Randy escorts Doug to the casino that night, as instructed, and Joey happily fronts him more cash to play against a few high rollers. “I’m sure you’ll pay us back before you know it,” Joey tells him.
“I do have a feeling my luck is about to turn,” Doug says, unaware that his wife is also getting lucky… albeit for different reasons. Back at the country club, Vanessa is flirting with a new trainer — and Diego is getting jealous. After scaring the other guy away, Diego makes it clear that he’s interested in more than just being physical with Vanessa.
Leslie Goes Behind Eva’s Back… Again!
After helping Nicole with her speech for the gala — not to mention flirting with Andre — Eva returns home to Leslie, who’s plotting the Richardsons’ destruction over a glass of wine. She tells Eva that this gala is the “perfect opportunity to expose Ted and Nicole for the reprehensible human beings they are.”
Leslie is practically giddy as she imagines the looks on the family’s “smug faces,” but Eva isn’t so sure. “What my father did wasn’t Nicole’s fault,” Eva argues. “There’s no reason for us to ruin her big day.” This troubles Leslie, who worries that Eva’s commitment to their revenge plan is beginning to wane.
To prove her commitment, Eva reveals that she swiped a straw from Ted to use for a paternity test. Conveniently, the results won’t be back before the gala, so Leslie agrees to hold off… or does she? When Eva goes to bed, Leslie makes a shady phone call. “I need a favor,” she says, holding up the bag with the straw inside.
