Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (August 27) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on Wednesday August 28 at 7pm.

Hollyoaks has waved goodbye to yet another popular character, with Kitty Draper (Iz Hesketh) having left the eponymous village during the latest offering of the show.

No, you’re crying.

The much-loved favourite made her debut in January of this year when she stole the identity of a friend who died in the crash at Dee Valley Bypass.

It turned out that she was running from her homophobic dad Declan Hawthorne (Alan Turkington), who was later killed by Beau Ramsey (Jon-Paul Bell) while trying to protect her.

With so much potential and a powerhouse performer in star Iz, Kitty would go on to become one of the show’s most-loved characters in a rather short space of time, leaving fans hopeful that she’d play a key role in the Channel 4 soap’s future.

But unfortunately, Kitty has now departed the show.

Determined to make things right after Beau was jailed for his role in Declan’s murder, Kitty resolved to come clean and tell the police everything. Before doing so, however, she wanted to speak to Dave Williams (Dominic Power) about the fact that Lizzie’s (Lily Best) baby was hers too.

Dave, who is to blame for the death of the child in question, struggled to get his head around such a thing and his demeanour soon changed as he grew threatening, claiming that Lizzie’s death was all Kitty’s fault.

A bit of a stretch there Dave, even by your standards.

Dave, as viewers know, is secretly leading a double life, operating as hardened gangster Blue, despite the fact that the hapless postman-turned-handyman never exhibited such calculating behaviour in his three years in the show.

Kitty flinched in fear as Dave made it quite clear that he was capable of murder. Things, however, took a turn when the killer learned of her role in Declan’s death. Instead of killing her, he ordered her to keep shtum about her involvement in the crime and flee the village instead so that Beau – her one true love – would rot in prison.

Brutal.

Heartbroken, Kitty agreed to do just that and, after a heartfelt goodbye with Ro (Ava Webster), Diane (Alex Fletcher) and Tony (Nick Pickard), she got in a taxi and left.

A rather upsetting exit which will no doubt garner a strong reaction from fans, especially when you factor Beau’s grim exit story, with the high school teacher now set to spend his life in prison for a crime he didn’t even commit.

It also leaves some stones unturned, with a recent plot twist having saw that Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) was the abusive ex that the real Kitty Draper – the woman who died in the crash – was running from.

With Hollyoaks set to undergo a reduction in episodes next month, a number of cast members are exiting to facilitate the change.

More devastating goodbyes are still to come, with fan-favourite star Matthew James Bailey, who plays Ethan Williams, and legendary Cindy Cunningham star Stephanie Waring both confirmed to be leaving. Steph revealed that her character was one axed by bosses.

Hollyoaks streams weeknights at 7:30pm on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
