Chicago Fire: After Brett, 5 more characters may leave

After Brett’s departure, other Chicago Fire characters may leave the series. Who are the main candidates?

In the 12th season of “Chicago Fire”, we have already seen Firehouse 51 say goodbye to two of its members. With Alberto Rosende’s firefighter Blake Gallo and Kara Killmer’s paramedic Sylvie Brett, leaving in the premiere episode and episode 6, respectively.

However, the NBC drama has already teased that other characters may leave the place they call home sooner than we think.

In the most recent episode, which showed Brett saying goodbye after his wedding to Casey (Jesse Spencer), the retirement of one character, the possible death of another, a third considering whether he needs to continue in 51, and someone making the decision to leave.

Previous episodes have also indicated that a character may not have a choice about how long they can remain a firefighter.

Here, we look at which characters could be next to leave the series.

Severide (Taylor Kinney)

Even though he’s repeatedly told his wife, Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), that he’s not going anywhere, and stated that his goal was to get home while he was away on the ATF’s latest arson case, we also couldn’t help but pay attention to something he said to Casey.

“You told me once that the house needed me, and whether I knew it or not, I needed the house. I’ve been thinking about this a lot over the last few months.” Severide wasn’t admitting he was right. He also mentioned OFI (Office of Fire Investigation) as a possibility when he is ready to leave the 51st.

What if that moment is coming sooner than he thought? He could still get involved in arson investigations and be where he wants to be: at home with his wife. Plus, Kinney could still remain on “Chicago Fire.”

Mouch (Christian Stolte)

“I want my last year or two at CFD to be my best,” Mouch said in episode 6, setting the stage for a change in his future. While noting that the retirement age is now 65, Casey also noted that it’s not too late for him to retire with some badges on his collar.

Could there be a change coming for Mouch that takes him away from 51 but keeps him helping people and in its orbit?

Herrmann (David Eigenberg)

In the premiere, Herrmann risked his life to save all 51 from a bomb when firefighters were targeted, and as a result, he caused permanent damage to his hearing. Now, he is wearing hearing aids, but the day will come when they will no longer be enough, and he will no longer be able to be a firefighter.

Carver (Jake Lockett)

Did Carver just sign his own death certificate? Violet (Hanako Greensmith) admitted that she pushed him away because she doesn’t want to risk losing someone she cares about again. “So, you really care about me, huh?” he asked, then reassured her, “Then nothing bad better happen to me.”

As soon as he said that, we started thinking that if 51 is about to lose anyone else at work, it’s going to be him. The only thing that can keep him alive? It would be cruel to kill off yet another of Violet’s love interests.

Gibson (Rome Flynn)

While Gibson seems to enjoy being at 51 — and has opened up to Carver about his past — he’s basically said there might be a spot coming soon at Truck: his.

While talking to Kylie (Katelynn Shennett), he suggested she tell Boden (Eamonn Walker) if she wanted to transfer to 51. She said she was fine in 46 and “besides, there’s no room here.” But “you should still tell him, just in case,” he said. “You never know, that’s all I’m saying.”
