Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) may be gone, but time moves on for Chicago Fire. The firefighting drama will forge ahead with its beloved roster of characters, and Brett’s replacement, which has been hinted at in the lead up to her exit, will be introduced.

Not much had been divulged about the new character, until NBC released promo images for the next batch of episodes. Thanks to one particular image, in which Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), Sam Carver (Jake Lockett), Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) are trying to remedy a patient at a clinic, fans have their first look at the new medic, who is evidently named Lennox.

Brett’s replacement is named Lennox

Wesam Keesh

Lennox is played Wesam Keesh, and intensity with which Violet is glaring at him in the phot suggests that things are not as copasetic between them as they were with Violet and Brett. This assumption is supported by the synopsis for season 12, episode 7, “Red Flag”, which explicitly states that there is tension between the two medics:

“Violet clashes with her new partner; Severide discovers a hidden stash of money on a call and squares off against the cops working the case; Mouch gets a parking ticket.”

A clash makes sense, given that Violet is being forced to take more of a leadership role than ever before, and had a particularly bad experience the last time she worked with someone who wasn’t Brett.

The previous medic replacement was Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver), who not only tried to blackmail Violet’s boyfriend, Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas), but tried to steal Violet’s job. Violet is probably reluctant to just embrace anyone who steps into the position of 51 medic, so the real question will be whether Lennox sticks around or simply has a one-episode arc.

Lennox and Violet will clash on the job

Chicago Fire - Season 12

Chicago PD recently did a version of the latter, in which a replacement for officer Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) was brought into the IU, only to be arrested when Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) caught up being inappropriate with some of the people they were trying to protect.

It’s also something that Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman teased during an interview with TV Insider. Her comments regarding the mysterious newcomer does make it sound as though there’s going to be some growing pains along the way:

“There’s somebody coming in as a new medic. [Violet will[ have to form the next person who comes in. It’ll be a journey finding that person. It’s not easy to replace Brett.”

Lennox only appears in one of the Chicago Fire promo shots, but between the photo and the synopsis, we should be in for some interesting episodes.
