Chicago Fire Season 12 Already Has The Perfect Replacement For Brett & Casey After Their Exit
Sylvie Brett and Matt Casey have officially moved out of the Windy City, and a new Chicago Fire romance can take the couple’s place in season 12.
Chicago Fire viewers had to bid farewell to one of the show’s most developed relationships in season 12, but during the same episode, a new romance proved they could replace the recently departed couple. The NBC procedural drama television series has featured an endless number of romantic pairings over the course of its 12 seasons and almost 250 episodes. However, Kara Killmer’s Sylvie Brett and Jesse Spencer’s Matt Casey are undoubtedly among the most popular and, at times, devastating relationships in Chicago Fire, and they will be sorely missed following their exit from the show.
Throughout the early seasons, it appeared as if Casey would end up with Monica Raymund’s Gabby Dawson, but that changed when Raymund left the series. Once Gabby was gone, Brett stepped in as Casey’s love interest. Brett and Casey eventually married in Chicago Fire season 12, but the road to get there wasn’t easy. It took a while for them to start dating, and once they did, Casey had to move to Oregon, effectively ending the romance. Casey returned during the season 11 finale and proposed to Brett, and the rest is history. Now, a new couple is taking Brett and Casey’s place.

Kara Killmer announced her exit from Chicago Fire before season 12 premiered, surprising fans still reeling from the season 11 cliffhanger involving Casey proposing to Brett. Then, the audience learned during the season 12 premiere that Brett had accepted Casey’s proposal and would move to Oregon to be with him after the wedding. The reasoning behind the character’s exit made sense, but it didn’t make her departure hurt any less. Thankfully, Brett stuck around for a few episodes before she officially left Chicago with Casey in Chicago Fire season 12, episode 6.
The romantic tension between Carver and Violet has existed since Chicago Fire season 11, and the lead-up to their romance is similar to Brett and Casey’s relationship.
Many things went wrong in the days leading up to Brett and Casey’s wedding in Chicago Fire season 12, episode 6. However, they ultimately made it down the aisle, exchanged heartwarming (yet cheesy) vows, and left for Oregon. Brett and Casey’s romance will surely be missed in Chicago Fire, but the show is seemingly setting up another couple to replace them.

Love Takes the Helm
The romantic tension between Jake Lockett’s Sam Carver and Hanako Greensmith’s Violet Mikami has existed since Chicago Fire season 11, and the lead-up to their romance is similar to Brett and Casey’s relationship. However, it didn’t start heating up until season 12, episode 3, which ended with Carver and Violet sleeping together. Since then, they have continued their fling, but things got more serious during Brett’s final hour.
Based on episode 6, Carver and Violet’s relationship will continue to develop as Chicago Fire season 12 continues.
Toward the end of the episode, Violet confessed to Carver that she was worried about something else happening to someone she cared about. Of course, this implies that Violet cares more about Carver than she lets on, but she is scared to get serious following Evan Hawkins’ death. Nevertheless, based on episode 6, Carver and Violet’s relationship will continue to develop as Chicago Fire season 12 continues (even if they run into some speed bumps as Brett and Casey did).
