Chicago Fire Season 13: What Shocking Changes Could Happen to Kelly Severide?
When it comes to Chicago Fire season 13, fans want to know more about what’s next for Severide. The good news is that fans will once again see Severide front and center in the new season. Taylor Kinney will be a part of season 13, Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman confirmed, but the bittersweet news is that it depends on what you want to see for the character.
Severide Won’t Get a Promotion in Chicago Fire Season 13
Anyone hoping to see Severide promoted to Captain in the new season will be disappointed. Newman clarifies to TVLine that Severide isn’t looking for that.
“There’s a lot of politics that goes into the higher you go up, and Severide isn’t interested in that. He’s a hands-on kind of guy,” Newman said.
Fans got to see him take over Firehouse 51 during Boden’s absence in Season 12. We know he’s capable, but not everyone has those ambitions. Severide is one of those guys who is happy in his current position and doesn’t want to get involved in the politics that come with a promotion to Captain. We can’t blame him!
Will Severide still be focused on arson?
Those who love watching Severide do something he’s so good at will be happy to hear the latest. Newman confirms that Severide’s passion continues to be investigating arson.
“He’s focused on what he’s obsessed with, which is arson and OFI, and the team, which he loves,” Newman shared, adding, “So arson is still at the forefront of his mind, the possibilities of him going to OFI are at the forefront of his mind, and all of that comes out. He’ll be dealing with all of that in this new season.”
It’s funny that longtime fans know that Severide tried to avoid the arson route for a long time. But he was so good at it that he kept getting called in to help.
In recent years, Severide has changed his mind. Part of it is probably because he hasn’t had to leave Team 3, which is another passion.
One thing we’ll see next season is that Severide will consider joining OFI. That will be addressed and he’ll have to make a choice. Is it possible that Cruz will have the option to take the lieutenant exam and become a lieutenant on Team 3 while Severide joins OFI?
