As work on the delayed season 12 begins, Chicago Fire’s exiting star finally acknowledges their upcoming departure from NBC’s One Chicago.
Kara Killmer finally acknowledges her upcoming Chicago Fire season 12 exit. On the heels of a year full of massive shake-ups, One Chicago is losing another veteran member as Killmer is expected to leave the first responder procedural sometime in its upcoming season. As the cast and crew prepare for Chicago Fire season 12’s production kick-off, Killmer took to her official Instagram account to break her silence over her impending departure from One Chicago as Sylvie Brett. Check out her post below:
The Instagram carousel is full of images of Killmer with various Chicago Fire crew members. In the caption, she wrote that she just had her “very last Ambo driving training today,” effectively addressing her upcoming exit.
How Chicago Fire Season 11 Finale Sets Up Brett’s Exit
Killmer’s departure from One Chicago may have come as a surprise, but the events of the Chicago Fire season 11 finale actually set up her Firehouse 51 exit. In the action-packed capper, Brett was faced with several life-altering decisions. First, she was caught up in the adoption process of an infant whom she and Violet delivered during an emergency house call. While the baby’s teenage mom was willing to give up the child, Brett still had to deal with the bureaucratic process before she could claim the baby. In the end, she was awarded the newborn.
Beyond Brett’s new role as a mom, however, was Matt Casey’s proposal, which was more telling about Brett’s decision to leave Firehouse 51. While Casey’s last trip back to Chicago was mostly for work, he also wanted to have a conversation with his ex-girlfriend to repair their relationship. The pair clearly still had strong feelings for each other, but the long-distance set-up hindered them from pursuing a relationship. With Killmer leaving, it’s safe to say that Brett will accept Casey’s proposal and subsequently move to Portland, Oregon, with him sometime in Chicago Fire season 12.
When exactly Killmer exits in Chicago Fire season 12 is unsure at this point. Hopefully, Brett and Casey will be able to catch Kelly Severide in his Firehouse 51 return, which is confirmed to happen as Taylor Kinney is set to reprise his role in One Chicago. If not, hopefully, Chief Boden and Firehouse 51 stage an amazing send-away party for the fan-favorite couple.
