One character’s life hung in the balance at the end of the Chicago PD season 10 finale, and the final scene implied that fans should be concerned.
Warning! Spoilers ahead for the Chicago PD season 10 finale.
One main character might not make it to Chicago PD season 11, and the show deliberately wanted viewers to be concerned about their fate after the season 10 finale’s last scene. The finale revolved around Adam Ruzek’s undercover case, where he was investigating a white supremacist named Richard Beck. Beck’s daughter, Samantha, informed Ruzek that whatever her father had planned had been moved up to that day. Unfortunately, things continued to go wrong for Ruzek for the rest of the episode.
The Intelligence Unit worked hard to take down Beck and put an end to his domestic terrorism plans, while Ruzek helped Samantha and her son, Cal, pack their things to escape from Beck. However, his grandfather’s racism had already poisoned Cal’s mind, and he ended up shooting Ruzek. The mother and son duo fled the scene, while Ruzek lay dying on the floor. With his last bit of strength, he managed to call Kim Burgess, and they rushed him to the hospital. Unfortunately, the Chicago PD season 10 finale didn’t give a straight answer regarding Ruzek’s fate, but the final scene doesn’t bode well for his future in the NBC series.
Voight Looks Devastated In Chicago PD Season 10 Finale’s Last Shot
After Kevin Atwater shot and killed Beck, Hank Voight retreated to the bar, where he shared a drink with ASA Nina Chapman in the final scene of Chicago PD season 10, episode 22. No words were spoken between the two as Voight picked up their drinks from the bar and brought them back to their table. But the haunted look on Voight’s face said a thousand words.
Voight was undoubtedly thinking about Ruzek, who, the last time viewers heard, was in surgery. If he was still in surgery, it would have made sense for Voight to be in the hospital waiting room. But the fact that the sergeant was at a bar instead (with a devastated expression on his face) indicates that the operation might not have gone so well. Chicago PD added this final shot to instill even more worry and fear into the audience that Ruzek might not survive his gunshot wound, but only time will tell if he makes it to season 11.
Photos Show Ruzek Survived The Surgery, But It Wasn’t In The Season 10 Finale
Following the episode’s airing, photos from a deleted scene in the finale were leaked online, and they might have spoiled Ruzek’s fate in Chicago PD. The pictures depict Ruzek sleeping on a hospital bed while Burgess sits by his side. They suggest that he makes it through the surgery and will be okay. However, since NBC cut the scene from the finale, that means that these pictures technically aren’t canon to the show.
It’s still possible that Ruzek will die during the season 11 premiere, and the reason that the network threw out the hospital bed scene is that they want to kill him off. Or perhaps it was cut because the producers wanted the audience to be truly worried about whether Ruzek would survive. Whatever the case may be, Chicago PD fans should be concerned about Ruzek going into season 11.
