Chicago PD Season 11: concerns eased as NBC returns to Previous Update
NBC is reportedly walking back on a previous programming update, which should ease concerns about the fate of Chicago PD season 11 and One Chicago.
Chicago PD season 11 timeslot concerns are eased after NBC walks back on its plans for a programming schedule change. Hank Voight and the rest of the Intelligence team are returning after their latest case, taking down white supremacist and drug dealer Richard Beck. When Chicago PD season 11 premieres, however, viewers can expect it to maintain its old timeslot despite previous worries that it may move to a different time and day of release.
Per TV Line, NBC retracts its previous plans to scrap its 10 PM programming. Doing so would have meant that Chicago PD would have to be moved to a different timeslot, effectively breaking up the One Chicago block. Read the full brief below:
“It looks like things may have changed since that August 2022 report. As Jeff Bader, President of Entertainment Program Planning Strategy for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, told me recently, “As far as we’re concerned, we are laying out schedules for the future that include the 10 o’clock hour.”
What To Expect From Chicago PD Season 11
Chicago PD season 10 ended with the culmination of Adam Ruzek’s undercover case cracking down on Beck’s operations. The Intelligence Unit was able to stop the perpetrator from staging what seemed like a domestic terror attack, although it was never fully revealed what the specifics of his plans were. In any case, the good thing is that Hank’s team will return for Chicago PD season 11, which is very important after recently losing Jay Halstead.
While the show kept Adam’s fate hanging in the balance after he was shot on the job, Chicago PD season 10 deleted images have spoiled that he will eventually survive his injury. This revelation is important since the show cannot afford to lose another veteran squad member following Halstead’s controversial exit. In addition, killing Adam at this point would be a massive betrayal to his and Kim Burgess’ fans, considering that they just recently rekindled their romance.
Admittedly, Chicago PD season 10 ran into some massive challenges, which was reflected in the show’s decreased ratings. As it returns for another year, however, NBC has the chance to redeem the show and bring it back to its old glory days, but it needs to go through a couple of changes to do that.
