Chicago PD spoilers: What to expect in season 11 finale (preview)
Chicago PD has really elevated the stakes in the last few weeks. The eleventh season has been characterized by longer-form storytelling, and cases that take more than a single episode to wrap up. The penultimate episode, “Inventory,” was perhaps the best example of this, as it ended on one of the best cliffhangers in the show’s history.
Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is kidnapped by the serial killer the IU has spent months chasing, and the promo shows that he doesn’t have much time before he’s murdered. The killer gives the veteran cop the chance to make one phone call before he gets taken out.
Upton will leave during the finale episode
All the while, we hear audio of a very panicked Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), who knows she doesn’t have much time to save her boss. Voight will obviously be getting lots of attention in the season 11 finale, titled “More,” but this will ultimately go down as the episode in which Upton left.
Fans were told at the onset of the season that Upton would be walking away from the IU, but there hasn’t been many hints or allusions to what brings about her decision. She’s voiced her unhappiness with her life during the season premiere, and again during “Inventory,” but it looks like something a bit more drastic than unhappiness is going to lead to her giving up her badge and gun.
Hank Voight is fighting for his life
The synopsis for “More” reads as follows:
“As the months long investigation into the serial killer reaches its close, Voight must outsmart the offender in a race against the clock; Upton must make a vital decision.”
Once again, very close to the chest in terms of information. The Chicago PD team has done a great job of making sure nothing gets spoiled, and the same goes for the cast. Jason Beghe and LaRoyce Hawkins have voiced sadness over seeing Spiridakos leave the show, but nothing has been revealed about why.
Spiridakos has not given any interviews in the lead up to the finale, either. She’s been very quiet, and her only statements regarding her decision to leave have been made via social media. All this makes us even more curious for what “More” will deliver.
