Chicago PD star teases lots of ‘surprises’ for season 11 finale
Fans are going to want to hold on tight come the final episode.
We know that some dramatic events are coming down the Chicago PD pipeline. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) has taken matters into his own hands for the first time in a couple seasons, and Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is getting ready to leave the show for good.
The specifics of where these events will lead us, and what they will mean for the characters moving forward, remain to be seen, but Jason Beghe has stepped up and given TV Insider crucial information regarding the season 11 finale.
Jason Beghe promises an incredible season finale
Beghe is not one for hyperbole when it comes to promoting Chicago PD, and he even makes note of his allergy towards “hype” during the interview. “I don’t try to hype things to get people to watch,” he asserted. “I’ve never been that guy.”
This disclaimer made the rest of Beghe’s statement even more exciting. He told fans that the finale episode is going to be jam-packed with “surprises”, and developments that he’s personally excited to deliver on:
“There’s going to be some things in the finale of this season that are going to knock people’s socks off. And I can tell you that I’m personally excited about it.””
Season 11 has felt like a slow build to something major, given how the first half of the season has been laying the groundwork for each of the characters, and “Survival”, the sixth episode, seems to mark a pivot towards a more focused and long form storytelling mode.
Beghe says he will miss Tracy Spiridakos
The season premiere ended with a vulnerable exchange between Voight and Upton, so it’s fitting that they will be getting the lion’s share of the drama as PD embarks on its second half. Beghe didn’t let anything slip regarding Upton’s exit, but he did acknowledge that he will miss Spiridakos on set:
“Losing Tracy as an actor, it’s a huge loss just as a human being. But as a friend, that’s something that’ll never change. Hopefully she’ll be back.”
While it’s way too early to start speculating on whether Upton will be back (we like to wait until a character leaves, at least!), it is nice to hear that the camaraderie between Spiridakos and the rest of the cast is as tight as ever.
We can only hope the same remains true when her character decides to leave the IU, and the Windy City as a whole, behind. We get the sense that her reasoning will be one of the “surprises” that Beghe teased.
