Counting Down: Chicago Fire’s Return Looms Near
We have another break in the Chicago Fire schedule, but there is some excellent news. The return date is in our grasp.
We are more than ready to dive into a new episode of Chicago Fire. The bad news from the last few weeks continues, though. There still isn’t a new episode on tonight, Wednesday, April 24.
This break has been due to scheduling needs. NBC airs finales in May. This is a big time of year for the Nielsen ratings, so getting as many new episodes in this month as possible is important. On top of that, the show needs time to produce and post-produce the final episodes of the series, so breaks in the schedule are necessary.
This break would have been needed regardless of the strikes in the summer. We usually get a weird schedule that sees a couple of weeks of new episodes and then a couple of weeks of reruns. The good thing about this break is that it’s the last one of the season.
When will Chicago Fire return with new episodes?
There isn’t long left to wait for Chicago Fire to return with new episodes. We’ll get to see the next new episode on Wednesday, May 1. Yes, that it next week. It doesn’t seem right that May is here already, does it?
There shouldn’t be a need for a break after that. There are four episodes left in the season and that’s plenty of episodes to fill up May to bring us finales close to the end of the month. NBC can then get the TV schedule back on track for the 2024–2025 season.
What to expect when Chicago Fire does return
We have a promo and synopsis for Chicago Fire season 12, episode 10. This one will see Severide in some danger. There’s a car that has ended up in the side of the building. However, this is a few storeys up from the ground, and it means Squad 3 will need to figure out how to stabilize everything to get the driver out and get the car to the ground safely.
There’s a moment where Severide is on top of the car as it starts to fall toward the ground. It doesn’t look like he’s attached to anything either.
Meanwhile, there’s trouble for Kidd’s Girls on Fire program. It looks like this is the latest attack against Firehouse 51. Or it could just be general budget cuts that mean various programs need to come to an end. The Girls on Fire program is a huge success in Chicago, so Kidd is going to fight with everything she has to save it. And I’m sure Kylie will help as well.
“Severide steps in as ranking officer at 51; Kidd fights to save her Girls on Fire programme; Cruz’s family is threatened when someone from Javi’s past resurfaces.”
