Everything to Know About Brett and Casey’s Chicago Fire Wedding
Chi-Hards, get ready to throw some rice — Brett and Casey are finally getting hitched!
For years, Chi-Hards questioned whether or not Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) would end up together on Chicago Fire, but it’s official — they’re officially heading for the altar.
Chi-Hards, get ready to hear some “I do”s because Casey and Brett’s wedding is coming — and airing Wednesday, February 28 at 9/8c on NBC. Read on to learn everything we know about Brett and Casey’s big day.
When did Sylvie Brett and Matthew Casey get engaged?
While fans are elated about Brett and Casey’s Chicago Fire wedding, it didn’t come without its obstacles. Casey moved to Portland in Season 10 of Chicago Fire, prompting him and Brett to be in a rocky long-distance relationship. The hassle and distance led to a disheartening Season 11 breakup — but it didn’t last long.
In the Season 11 finale of Chicago Fire (“Red Waterfall”), Casey visited Chicago to ask Brett a very important question. Arriving on Brett’s doorstep (the first place the couple kissed), Casey got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course, the episode cut to black before Brett’s answer was revealed.
Where are Sylvie Brett and Matthew Casey getting married?
While Chi-Hards were forced to wait until the Season 12 premiere (“Barely Gone”) to learn Brett had accepted Casey’s proposal, they didn’t have to wait long for wedding details. Brett was happy to inform her colleagues that the wedding would be small, an invite list comprised of family and CFD loved ones. Better yet, Brett and Casey’s wedding would be in Chicago, meaning Casey will be making a return to 51.
Sylvie Brett and Matt Casey’s unique wedding venue
Throughout the season, Brett and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) have tossed around different wedding venue locations, ultimately selecting Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium after learning Squad 3’s Tony (Anthony Ferraris) had a friend who worked there. Tony agreed to get them the spot, but having simply heard “the aquarium” from his 51 colleagues, Tony made a not-so-slight error when securing the place.
After Tony volunteered a tour of the venue, Brett was shocked to drive up to a commercial fish store, packed to the brim with humming aquariums. Chi-Hards can’t wait to see how that wedding turns out after Brett’s plans have gone haywire.
The excitement won’t end at the wedding reception, either. In the Season 12 premiere, Brett revealed that after the wedding, she’d be moving to Portland. She told her friends that she and Casey have waited long enough to be together, and no one could disagree with that. Chi-Hards are sad to see Brett leave 51 but know she’s going to be in good hands with Casey.
Who is in Sylvie Brett and Matthew Casey’s wedding party?
As the sweetheart of Firehouse 51, everyone at the station has been excited to attend Brett’s wedding as the bride-to-be joyfully plans the festivities. Knowing her paramedic pal would be the most diligent woman for the job, Brett tapped Violet as her maid of honor. Naturally, this has led the perfectionist Violet to bend over backward to make sure Brett’s big day is extra special.
Having already planned and celebrated her wedding, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has also been a cherished counsel during the wedding planning and had a blast with Brett and Violet during the uproarious bachelorette party she helped coordinate.
We’ll have to wait for the big day to see Casey’s groomsmen, but we’d be remiss not to wager Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) will show up for Casey in the same way Casey showed up for him.
