Hollyoaks confirms another bizarre Jeremy twist – and it’s stomach-churning

Jeremy Blake shocked in Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Monday’s (August 26) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on Tuesday August 27 at 7pm.

Just when you thought the highly contentious Blake saga couldn’t get any more convoluted and complicated, it somehow manages to do just that, with Jeremy (Jeremy Sheffield) locking lips with Liberty Savage (Jessamy Stoddart).

Yes, really.

The Blakes have been the subject of much discussion as of late, with fans understandably annoyed over a major – and unnecessary – retcon that saw newcomer Jeremy (played by former Patrick star Jeremy Sheffield) revealed as Sienna’s biological father instead of Patrick.

Sienna, who remains one of soap’s greatest ever creations, is largely the way she is because of Patrick, with the dynamic between the two having proved instrumental in forging her into the TV icon that she is today.

This re-write, however, risks undermining that incredibly rich history, especially when you factor in that Jeremy will be just as unhinged as his twisted twin.

The biggest casualty of this storyline twist is the fact that Dilly Harcourt (Emma Johnsey-Smith) is no longer Sienna’s sister, which is particularly upsetting given how electric the bond between the two has proven to be.

Dilly being Sienna’s sibling was a retcon in and of itself but it was one that was a work of genius and proved incredibly successful when implemented.

But the Blake twists have been in high supply lately as, in addition to Sienna’s paragentage being altered, we also recently learned that Martha (Sherrie Hewson) – who was put into a home by Jeremy due to fictionalised claims of dementia – might now actually have dementia.

And to complicate matters further, Jeremy and Liberty have shared a kiss.

The snog came after a rather fun and, under any other circumstances, uplifting family bonding scene for the Blake clan. Sienna joined Liberty, Dilly and Jeremy in drinking cider and dancing around the flat to tunes as they got to know each other properly.

Tipsy Jez was exactly everything the character should be, giving fun uncle vibes, played to perfection by Jeremy Sheffield. More of this side of him please.

The fun was interrupted by Dilly, who was overcome with emotion as she struggled to come to terms with the fact that she wasn’t Sienna’s sister – again, why this was changed I’ll never understand. Sienna, meanwhile, was quick to reiterate that they’ll always be family, no matter what.

Dils joined Sienna to pick up the children while Liberty and Jeremy remained at the flat, dancing without a care in the world until the unthinkable happened – they shared a kiss.

Afterwards, they said it shouldn’t happen again and vowed to keep it a secret, though Jez admitted that he felt compelled to kiss Lib because she reminded him of his dead ex Anna, who was Lib’s mother.

That’s not weird at all.

How exactly this will pan out remains to be seen, especially given the time jump is just weeks away. Will Sienna find out? Will Liberty spill the beans?

Her nonchalance over the kiss – plus her decision to keep shtum – feels somewhat out of character given that the dynamic has now drastically changed, which will inevitably impact the others in the household. Lib, as viewers know, famously worries about such things.

The kiss is yet another complication for this dynamic, which was actually rather refreshing and organic a few months ago upon Jeremy’s debut – before he became Sienna’s dad – when it seemed like a proper new chapter for the Blake clan was about to commence.

Hollyoaks streams weeknights at 7:30pm on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
