Hollyoaks ‘confirms’ another exit in double goodbye shock

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (July 3) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on Thursday July 4 at 7pm.

Freya Calder (Ellie Henry) has asked to go with Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams), who is set to wave goodbye to the eponymous village for a new life in Spain.

Scott, as fans know by now, is one of several characters set to depart amid major changes to the Channel 4 soap, which will reduce its episodic output from five episodes a week to three.

Ross Adams, who has played loveable Scott for nine years, has documented his exit from the show on social media over the past few months, with the soap star having already filmed his final scenes.

Hollyoaks fans have been left wondering what exactly Scott’s exit story will entail, with scenes in the latest streaming offering confirming that he’ll leave the village for a new life in Spain with Sinead (Stephanie Davis), making his drag act Anita Tinkle his full time job.

Knowing this would be his absolute dream, Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence) encouraged Scott to take the opportunity and, after some consideration, he resolved to do just that.

Freya, who has been living with Scott in the wake of her dad’s arrest, took him by surprise when she asked if she could go too, admitting that she needs a fresh start after all that she’s been through.

Even by Hollyoaks standards, Freya has suffered a lot of heartbreak since arriving in the village.

From being injured in a bus crash to losing her mum Lexi (Natalie Anderson) at the hands of serial killer Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle), to finding out that her homophobic dad Carter Shepherd (David Ames) was practising conversion therapy on Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis), who he attempted to kidnap.

No wonder she needs a fresh start!

The question is: will Freya depart the village? Will she and Scott get their happy ending? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Freya’s exit news comes just one day after Zain Rizwaan (Jonas Khan) departed the village. Prior to the changes coming into effect in September, Hollyoaks will bid farewell to numerous more faces.

Metro confirmed last month that beloved cast member Matthew James Bailey, who plays fan-favourite Ethan Williams, is set to exit after three years, which came as a huge shock to fans.

Another big departure is that of Stephanie Waring, who has played Cindy Cunningham on and off for 28 years. Steph confirmed on social media that her iconic character was one of those axed amid the casting cuts.

Warren Fox will also be written out, with Jamie Lomas confirming his departure. Beau Ramsey (Jon-Paul Bell) is also reportedly set to leave. Frank Kauer, who played Mason Chen-Williams, departed the village in the wake of Lizzie’s (Lily Best) tragic death.

Hunter McQueen (Theo Graham) also tragically died on the very same day.

Hollyoaks streams weeknights at 7:30pm on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
