Hollyoaks confirms heartbreak for Lucas Hay and Dillon Ray in brutal twist
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Thursday’s (June 20) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on Friday June 21 at 7pm.
Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) was left devastated when Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) hesitated after Misbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi) asked them if they could say – without a shadow of a doubt – that they were ready for a longterm relationship.
The teen, as viewers know, came out to dad Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) last month after his conversion therapy ordeal came to an end, confessing his love for Dillon, who has supported him through thick and thin.
The two boys shared their first kiss soon afterwards and, on the very same day, they went public with their romance. This week, discussion turned to sex, with Lucas confiding in Dillon that he wanted his first time to be with him.
Dillon was touched by such a thing and the young lovers wasted little time in planning to have sex – but things didn’t go according to plan, with Ste and James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) walking in on them tearing each other’s clothes off.
Afterwards, Dillon booked a hotel. Lucas, however, lied about being grounded after a frank discussion with Ste about first loves, and conflict ensued when Dillon found out that he wasn’t being honest again.
Thursday’s streaming offering of the popular soap picked up the following day, with Lucas determined to make amends. Dillon agreed to hear him out and thus headed over to Weirside View.
It didn’t take them long to patch things up, with Dillon taking Lucas by the hand and telling him that, despite having had sex before, he was nervous about their first time, evidently caring very much for his other half.
Feeling both ready and excited, Lucas took Dillon by the hand and led him to his room, where they had sex. Afterwards, Lucas was on cloud nine, as was Dillon, with the boys more loved up than ever.
As Dillon made his way back to Christleton Terrace to carry out duties for Misbah, Lucas gave chase and planted a kiss on his lips, thanking him for what they just did.
Little did they know, however, that Misbah witnessed the kiss and, seeing Lucas in a dressing gown, she put two and two together, summoning Ste and James over to her home to discuss the teens’ relationship.
Ste and James were adamant that, after all they’d been through, Lucas and Dillon shouldn’t be split up.
Misbah, however, disagreed, recalling how Lucas was violent towards Dillon at the folly when he was under the spell of conversion therapist Carter Shepherd (David Ames).
Dillon interjected with his own opinion on the matter – giving Misbah what for in the process – asking if her desire to separate him and Lucas was because her own marriage to Zain Rizwaan (Jonas Khan) had ended in tears.
Misbah, however, was adamant that she was acting in his best interest.
‘After everything that’s happened do you really think you’re ready for a longterm relationship?’, she asked of the boys. Lucas was very confident in saying yes. Dillon, however, hesitated, which broke Lucas heart as he got up and stormed towards the door.
‘By the way’, he said to Dillon. ‘The reason I came over was to say I love you’.
This marks the first time that Dillon has heard Lucas say those words, having been unconscious when he said them previously.
Dillon, as fans might recall, told Lucas that he loved him at the folly a number of weeks ago, with Lucas retaliating with violence, a decision which he came to regret. Afterwards, while Dillon lay on the floor, he told him that he was in love with him.
The following episode will see Dillon plead with Misbah to go lift the ban to no avail and, afterwards, he meets with Lucas at the folly.
Is this tale of romance over already? Or can love really conquer all?
