Hollyoaks confirms major twist as character is unexpectedly ‘brought back from the dead’

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (September 17) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.

Despite son Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) having claimed that she died, Marie Fielding (Rita Simons) is actually very much alive, with the latest offering of the Channel 4 soap having confirmed such a thing.

Marie, as fans know, was injured in the motorcycle crash last week, after Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) lost control of the vehicle while trying to flee abusive partner Abe.

Cleo was rushed to hospital and subsequently confided in Leela and Joel Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter and Rory Douglas-Speed) about how she’s been subjected to horrific abuse at Abe’s hands.

Horror ensued, however, as Marie’s fate was called into question, with Abe and Joel rushing to her bedside. Abe returned to Cleo’s room and told her that Marie had died – and he was going to make her wish that she was dead too.

Flashforward a year and Cleo is being held against her will by abuser Abe, who is keeping her locked up in a cell behind their flat.

Cleo mention in passing that it was the anniversary of his mum’s death and Abe momentarily faltered. Why? Because it turns out that Marie isn’t actually dead.

In fact, she’s very much alive and well, meeting with Abe and Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) – who are secretly dating – at the folly.

Leela found out about her daughter’s new boyfriend and wasted little time in giving him a piece of her mind, smacking Abe across the face and ordering him to stay away from Peri.

Cleo, meanwhile, got wind of the fact that Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) is fighting cancer and therefore she took an opportunity to escape as she stabbed abuser Abe with a broken up CD and made a run for it.

The question is: will she manage to get to safety? And just how will she react when she finds out that Marie is actually alive after all?

Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 7am on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
