Hollyoaks confirms who the father of Leah’s baby is as fans reel: ‘I feel sick’
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Monday’s (September 23) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
After a week of speculation, Hollyoaks has revealed the identity of the father of Leah Barnes’ (Ela-May Demircan) baby.
Leah, as viewers know, was revealed to be pregnant after the Channel 4 soap took a historic time jump, diving one year into the future, where life was very different for the residents of the Chester village.
Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) has cancer, Cleo (Nadine Mulkerrin) is being held captive by Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) and Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey) and Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) are engaged.
Leah, meanwhile, was pregnant and, in emotional scenes during the first episode of the new era, she delivered a baby boy with Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) by her side.
Speculation has been rife among Hollyoaks fans regarding who the father of the baby is. On screen, the characters believed that Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) – who has frustratingly been written out – is the dad.
But lingering looks and a sense of mystery indicated that this simply wasn’t the case.
Despite the whole thing being very out-of-character for him, Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) proved to be fans’ prime suspect after he looked concerned about the wellbeing of the baby.
Dillon, as viewers know, is in a longterm with relationship with Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis), who is currently in young offenders for attacking sex abuser JJ Osborne (Ryan Mulvey).
The sheer thought of Dillon cheating on Lucas with anyone – let alone his sister – had fans baffled, believing that the young character simply wouldn’t do such a thing.
But was everything as it seemed?
Unfortunately that would be yes. Leah decided to give her baby boy up for adoption, with Ste (Kieron Richardson) feeling unable to look after him after just coming out of a coma.
After some advice from Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), however, Ste reconsidered, much to Leah’s delight. But one person who wasn’t happy, about the decision was Dillon, who told Leah that Lucas can never find out what they did.
It seems that, after he everything he did to be with Lucas, he cheated on him with his sister.
As predicted, the reveal hasn’t gone down too well with fans. ‘I feel so sick,’ exclaimed X/Twitter user seeing skz. ‘I thought I was ready! I’m so scared.
‘I can’t stop crying.’
‘The assassination of Dillon ray’s character should be studied,’ added Misty.
Gemma wrote: ‘You’ve already made him cheat on his boyfriend that he claimed to have loved and now he’s not even gonna step up as a father ? -100 points here,’ while social media user Love, Sam argued that Hollyoaks has turned Dillon into ‘the worst kind of person’ by having him cheat on Lucas.
Matthew stated: ‘I don’t really understand why #Hollyoaks have tarnished a couple, especially when they told us they had a long term future!? It’s a shame when fan favourite couples get together that the only story that rears its head is one cheating on the other.’
Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 7am on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
