Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring has officially tied the knot with Tom Thornton-Brookes, sorting the ‘legal bit’ just one month after the pair’s secret wedding.

The actress, who plays the iconic Cindy Cunningham, confirmed last month that she’d married fiancé Tom during a beautiful ceremony on a beach in the Maldives.

The TV legend, who has been a regular cast member of the Channel 4 soap on and off since 1996, revealed at the time that she and Tom were already planning to take a holiday but decided last minute to tie the knot.

‘When we booked this holiday to the Maldives, Tom said “Do you want to get married?” and I just replied, “Yeah.”‘ she told OK! Magazine at the time.

Tom then explained: ‘I was having a look online at where we were staying and I saw they did weddings.’

The happy couple opted to have no guests at the intimate ceremony but Steph had a heartfelt call with her daughters, Mia, 18, and Lexi, 13, before she walked down the aisle.

Flash-forward a month and Steph and Tom are getting married once again, with the Hollyoaks star updating her followers on Sunday to confirm that it was time to get ‘the legal bit’ sorted.

Gabriel Clark, who played the second iteration of Cindy’s stepson Ollie Morgan, was present for the ceremony and shared snaps of the special day, which saw Ross Adams – who played Scott Drinkwell – speak.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Stephanie completed filming on Hollyoaks earlier this year after almost three decades, with the star confirming that her character – one of TV’s most recognisable soap icons – was one of those axed ahead of the episode reduction coming into effect next month.

The news was met with upset from long-time fans.

Hollyoaks will reduce from five to three episodes a week, with a number of major characters set to exit as a result. In addition to Cindy, fans will also have to say goodbye to the popular Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey) and Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan).

A number of actors have already exited, including Ross Adams, with Scott’s exit story leaving fans – and Ross himself – feeling like the character deserved better.

Cindy remains onscreen but it’s only a matter of time before the character’s final scenes air.
