Hollyoaks stars confirm ‘tricky’ future for Lucas and Dillon after baby news and warn fans to ‘get their tissues’
Hollyoaks stars Oscar Curtis and Nathaniel Dass have weighed on what the future holds for Lucas Hay and Dillon Ray after that controversial baby twist which left fans reeling.
Dillon, as viewers know, was revealed to be the father of Leah Barnes’ (Elá-May Demircan) baby, which means that – while Lucas was serving time in young offenders – his partner cheated on him with his sister!
Fans were left devastated by the unexpected development, with a number branding the move out of character for Dillon, who fought with everything that he had last year to be with Lucas.
Hard to disagree with that!
Discussing the reaction to the plot twist, actor Nathaniel Dass branded it ‘pretty fair’ when he caught up with Metro on the red carpet of the Inside Soap Awards, while co-star Oscar added that it was ‘pretty justified’.
‘It’s a big twist’, said Nathaniel, revealing that he and Oscar didn’t expect it either. ‘But it’s all part of the fun of being on a soap, twists and turns!’.
As to what the future holds for Lucas and Dillon – affectionately known as HayRay by fans of the show – well that remains to be seen but it’s safe to say that whatever path they were on previously has been stopped in its tracks.
‘It’s going to be tricky!’, confirmed Oscar. ‘HayRay fans that are watching should really get their tissues’.
Discussing the next stage of the story, Nate said: ‘I think any teenage pregnancy is not going to be the easiest thing in the world to deal with.
‘While your partner is prison, [you’re] sleeping with his sister. That’s going to have a big effect on these two characters – and what they were.
‘What they were supposed to have with their future has definitely been altered. They’re on a completely new path and I think there are going to be some challenges’.
It sounds like emotional times are to come for Dillon and Lucas. But will they be able to survive it? Now that is the question.
