Home and Away star Nicholas Cartwright teases big change for Cash Newman
This year, actor Nicholas Cartwright of Home and Away has hinted at a significant transformation for his character Cash Newman.
The Australian 2023 season finale of the show ended on a dramatic note when Cash’s girlfriend Eden was abducted. Scenes were supposed to resume in January with Cash and his sister Felicity enlisting the help of emergency services to find Eden.
Even while we don’t yet know Eden’s fate, it appears like Cash will go a very different route from what we’ve seen in the past once the current turmoil has subsided.
Cartwright stated, “Without giving anything away, (the current storyline) finds some sort of resolution, but it’s a massive journey getting there,” in an interview with the Australian publication Perth Now.
“Cash has a lot going on outside of that. He’s thinking about changing careers. Cash has always worked as a police officer in the Bay, so I imagine he’s growing a little impatient with that. A significant shift is on the horizon for Cash.”
In an attempt at viral marketing, Australian network 7 established a “helpline” that viewers could contact to get information and to hear Cash’s final conversation with Eden. More than 74,000 calls were placed. The soap star said that the response from fans to the plot has been a nice surprise: “It’s been great that people are getting into the phone number you can ring.”
“Normally, with our finales, we end up with someone in hospital or something like that, But this one was really different and there was a really great twist.”
Fans in Australia won’t have to wait long to find out how things work out because Home and Away returns to Australia on January 8th.
