We’ve known for months now that Kara Killmer would soon be leaving Chicago Fireand now we know when exactly we’ll be bidding goodbye to 51’s longtime paramedic.

After 10 seasons as Sylvie Brett, Killmer will be departing Chicago Fire in the upcoming sixth episode of the show’s current twelfth season. This means that we only have two episodes left before Brett leaves the show for good with her final episode set to air on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

As confirmed by the synopsis for episode 6, “Port in the Storm,” the sixth episode of Chicago Fire will see Brett and Casey’s wedding day finally arriving as the pair tie the knot in front of family and friends. With the wedding comes Brett’s formal exit from the series with the synopsis for the episode teasing that the episode finds 51 saying goodbye to Brett.

Disappointing as it might be to see Brett leave so early into the season, the silver lining is that we ended up getting more episodes than expected and with Killmer’s exit coming in episode 6 that means she stuck around for half of the show’s shortened season.

Brett and Casey’s wedding will be Kara Killmer’s last Chicago Fire episode

As hinted at in the season 12 premiere, Chicago Fire will be using the upcoming wedding of Brett and Casey as the big sendoff episode for Kara Killmer. Episode 6, “Port in the Storm,” will see Brett and Casey’s wedding day arrive as the pair celebrate their love in front of family and friends.

The synopsis for the episode seems to hint that Brett’s farewell will be the key storyline in the episode, which means fans are going to want to make sure to come prepared with tissues.

Not only are we going to get to see Brett and Casey’s love celebrated as the pair finally exchange I Do’s, but we’re expecting the episode to pull at our heartstrings with tender moments celebrating a character who has been a crucial member of the team since season 3.

We wouldn’t be surprised if the actual wedding occurred at the end of the episode with the bulk of the episode building up to the wedding as Brett gradually bids farewell to her 51 family in a series of emotional exchanges.

It’s unclear whether there are any plans for Killmer to return after her farewell episode, but given she’s leaving town to be with Casey the door will remain open for Brett to return in the future.
