Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (June 18) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on Wednesday June 19 at 7pm.

Leela (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) and Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) were left utterly devastated as Misbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi) informed them that the post-mortem results for baby Noah were ‘inconclusive’.

The couple, who tied the knot last month, were left absolutely devastated when doctors informed them a number of weeks ago that their unborn baby had passed away.

Leela had experienced reduced movements in the hours after the wedding and thus headed to Dee Valley hospital to get checked over, with the obstetrician relaying the sad news to her.

Doctors subsequently induced the labour, with Leela delivering their stillborn baby boy, who she and Joel named Noah.

The couple were devastated and, consumed by grief, Leela kicked Joel out. But despite their struggle to open up to one another, the pair came together this week after they were notified that the post-mortem results were ready.

‘We call it an unexplained stillbirth’, said Misbah to the grieving parents, who had been hoping for some answers. ‘They’re common in early pregnancies but they can happen later.

‘There is nothing anyone could have done’.

Leela struggled to hold back her tears, while Joel demanded that Misbah conduct another test, unable to process the fact that they’ve still got no answers.

The upset dad punched a hole in the wall, with brother Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) being summoned to talk to him.

Taking his sibling’s advice, Joel headed over to Oakdale Drive to speak to Leela and, after a heart-to-heart, she asked him to move back in.

‘I’m not saying it’s an easy way forward’, she said, ‘but at least it’s a way forward. Joel gave her a hug in return, which Leela reciprocated.

Hollyoaks streams weeknights at 7:30pm on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
