In exploring the diverse, close-knit community of first responders, “Chicago Fire” casts characters with diverse personalities and backgrounds, whether they are heroes, hot-headed rookies or Experienced and resilient veterans. Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) fits perfectly into the latter category. Mouch may be Firehouse 51’s resident couch potato (“Mouch” is a portmanteau of person and couch), but the longtime firefighter is certainly no slouch. Mouch’s relationship with Platt is at a high point
“One Chicago” fans can’t live without Plouch. In Season 2 of “Chicago Fire”, Mouch meets Trudy Platt (Amy Morton), the desk sergeant of “Chicago PD”. The meet-cute launched one of the most beloved relationships on “Chicago Fire,” not to mention the only one. The One Chicago crossover pair spans this moment in the history of Dick Wolf’s famous franchise.
Since “Chicago PD” premiered in 2014, Platt has held a desk at the Chicago Police Department’s 21st District, making her a near-constant presence in crime proceedings. Although Platt is a considerate person, she is also sarcastic and has a sharp tongue, making her a welcoming foil to the kind Mouch.
In the end, the couple remained together through difficult times. When an explosion sent Platt to the hospital in Season 5 of “Chicago PD,” Mouch rushed to her aid. Fans also love Plouch for their longevity. Other romances in the “One Chicago” universe burn fast and hard, or are endlessly complicated like “Chicago PD” couple Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), or also called Burzek (via NBC). Plouch, meanwhile, is a reliable unit. In a Reddit fan poll, 26% of voters chose to see more screen time from Platt and Mouch in the future. Plouch may not bring the most dramatic weight to One Chicago, but they bring humor and lightness to this often dark series.
