NBC reveals fall premiere date for One Chicago shows (and it’s soon!)
One Chicago, like most shows in 2023-24, struggled. The Hollywood strikes took a huge chunk of time away from the writing and production stages. It also forced networks to churn out seasons that were roughly half the length of a regular season.
Fortunately, the franchise prevailed. It survived these production setbacks, along with countless cast changes, and was renewed for additional seasons. The upcoming seasons for Chicago Fire, Med and PD will be crucial, not only because they will provide the usual number of episodes but because they will solidify the new ensembles for each show.
One Chicago is returning on September 25
And now we know when they’re coming back. TV Line released the fall lineup for NBC, and it confirmed that the One Chicago franchise will continue to hold down the fort on Wednesday nights. All three shows will return on Wednesday, September 25. Med will kick off at 8 pm, followed by Fire at 9 pm and finally PD at 10 pm.
This aligns with the usual rollout for fall programming, which airs from mid-September to early October. It’s also great to see the One Chicago lineup be preserved, since there were talks of the network making scheduling changes.
All three shows will maintain their usual time slots
There was speculation that NBC would be cutting its nightly programming short, and being forced to move one of One Chicago shows to another day. This would have hurt the ratings for whichever show was selected (probably Chicago Med, given that it comes first), and would hurt the franchise’s ability to stage three-part crossover events in the future.
Law & Order will also be returning on Thursday, October 3. That being said, only two of the franchise’s three shows will be maintaining their time slot. The third one, Law & Order: Organized Crime, has been moved to Peacock exclusively. Instead, the third show in the Thursday night lineup will be Found, which is a crime drama heading into its second season.
