Sophia Bush did not enjoy her time on Chicago PD. The actress has made it very clear that she didn’t get along with co-star Jason Beghe, which led to her deciding to leave the show in season 4. A recent Twitter exchange provided insight into the kind of disagreements she and Beghe had while on the set, and it dated back to the pilot episode.

On June 4, Twitter user @rtotheobinn noted that Bush’s character, Erin Lindsay, got her hair pulled during a crucial moment in the first Chicago PD episode. Voight, the character played by Beghe, was the one who did the pulling, and the user asked Bush whether this moment was scripted. “Wondering if that was scripted?? I hope so,” she wrote.

Sophia Bush confirmed a disturbing set incident

Bush provided a sobering answer. “No,” she wrote. “It was not.” This not only places the moment itself in a disturbing context, but helps to fill in the blanks of the type of behavior that Bush had to deal with on the set. The actress previously alluded to experiencing discomfort during a 2023 episode of her podcast Drama Queens.

Bush claimed that none of the cast or crew would stick up for her when she had tense interactions with Beghe. “[I] had a group of men who were like, ‘I love you so much, you’re our best friend.’ [They] never got involved and never stood up,” she explained. “And I know some of them are mad that I acknowledge that when we talk about this show as well, and you know what? I don’t care.”

Jason Beghe was investigated by NBC in 2017

Bush’s exit coincided with an investigation into Jason Beghe’s conduct on the set. Deadline claimed that NBC looked into the allegations of sexual harassment leveled at Beghe, which led to him making a public statement in 2017.

“I am deeply sorry for my behavior, which I know has been hurtful to my friends and colleagues,” the veteran actor wrote. “I have struggled with anger issues for some time, and over the past year, I have been working with a coach to help me learn how to mitigate my temper. It’s an ongoing process, and it has been a humbling one.”

A note of reprimand was placed in Beghe’s personnel file, according to the outlet, but the actor was allowed to remain on the show.
