Chicago Fire' Season 10 Showrunners Clarify Kelly Severide Isn't Married

Fans can’t imagine Kelly Severide without Stella Kidd, and we anticipate the couple having the wedding of a lifetime during the Chicago Fire Season 10 finale. They recently got re-engaged during a gala, and they were able to overcome several serious hurdles, including when Kidd left to pursue Girls on Fire. Now, their relationship seems better than ever. But we can’t forget Severide’s past marriage to Brittany Baker.

Distractify reminds us that Severide met Baker in Las Vegas after his breakup with Erin Lindsay and the death of Leslie Shay. Baker and Severide hit it off while gambling, and they shared a kiss while playing games together in the casino. When Severide returned to Chicago, he was noticeably sporting a wedding ring.

So, did Severide and Baker stay married? Chicago Fire showrunners Derek Haas and Andrea Newman clarified the couple is no longer married.

“Don’t forget, Severide has Brittany down in Florida,” Haas joked on a call with Meet Us At Molly’s.

“No, the divorce went through right after,” Newman laughed. “Maybe it was annulled, actually. It was short enough it could’ve been annulled. Let’s go with annulment.”

We’d be surprised to see Brittany Baker in the Chicago Fire Season 10 finale. So, why did Baker leave Kelly Severide in the end?

Distractify notes after just four show episodes, Baker and Severide knew they moved too fast. Baker decided to leave Chicago, and fans haven’t heard much of her since. Baker actor Serinda Swan told TVLine she had another show lined up, so she couldn’t stay on Chicago Fire much longer.

“[I] had to exit so fast because I had to go off to the next season of Graceland, that not everything was tied up properly,” Swan explained. “So, I kept getting all these messages being like, ‘When do you come back? We know you come back. You guys are still married,’ and I was like, ‘I actually don’t think I’m ever coming back because I’m about to go shoot something for seven months. I don’t think this is happening.’”

During their interview with Meet Us At Molly’s, executive producer Andrea Newman continued to joke that Derek Haas sent Baker away. “He put her on a train, and we never saw her again,” she stated. “Poor Brittany.”

The Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd wedding during the ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 finale may feature a special guest

Will Brittany Baker return for the Chicago Fire Season 10 finale? Fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a cameo from Serinda Swan. But they might see a cameo from another familiar face — and that’s Jesse Spencer as Matt Casey.

Matt Casey promised Kelly Severide he’d be his best man at the wedding. And with the wedding likely happening during the season finale, this means Casey has to return — at least temporarily.

“That would be a coup for our show if we could talk Jesse into coming back,” Derek Haas told TVLine. “So status on that is all systems looking good. And yes, I talked to him last week, so I’m very hopeful that that’s going happen.”

With that in mind, we anticipate Sylvie Brett will return for the season finale as well.
