TV and soap star lands role in major Netflix series
Former Hollyoaks star Callum Kerr has a new recurring role in the Netflix drama series Virgin River.
The romantic drama, which is based on the popular book series by Robyn Carr, focuses on Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner and midwife who moves from Los Angeles to the remote California town of Virgin River following the death of her husband and unborn baby.
Actor Callum, who played George Kiss on the soap, will play Mel’s dad Everett in the upcoming sixth season.
In his latest Instagram post confirming his signing, he penned: ‘Been keeping this one hush for a while.
‘Over the moon to announce that I’ll be joining the Virgin River universe exclusively on Netflix.
‘Working alongside @jessica_rothe – the characters are introduced in Season 6 of the show – and in the meantime, Netflix are developing a potential spinoff series for said characters. Exciting times indeed!!’
Callum’s character George was involved in a pretty heavy storyline before his departure.
The policeman was abusing and controlling boyfriend John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) for several months now, and recent scenes have seen him attempt to stop his beau from applying for a new job.
His methods involved him encouraging John to neglect his responsibilities under the guise of wanting to spend more time with him.
‘George is pretty childish,’ Callum told ‘ He’s also very needy and wants John Paul’s attention at all times.
‘Any time John Paul looks like he’s got something better to do, it really frustrates George, and the way he deals with that is to make John Paul feel bad for doing whatever it is that he’s doing on his own.’
