What to Know About Chicago Fire Season 12: Details
Who’s ready for Season 12?
Exciting news, Chi-Hards: All shows in the One Chicago family have been renewed for the 2023-2024 season on NBC. That means we’re getting new episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. Hooray!
“We understand the emotional connection our audience has with these characters and we can’t wait to bring more of their stories to the forefront next season,” Lisa Katz, the president of scripted programming at NBCUniversal and Streaming, said in a statement. “A huge thank you to Dick and his amazing team who are the masters of producing incredibly compelling television week after week.”
What will happen in Chicago Fire Season 12?
New photos from Season 12 were released in January 2024, and they suggest high-stakes, big rescues, and a possible “yes” from Brett (Kara Killmer) to Casey’s (Jesse Spencer) surprise proposal. (Peep the ring on Brett’s finger in the new pics, below.)
Fans are hoping to see more from Spencer this season, who returned as Casey twice in Season 11.
Spencer is game if the cards fall right. “The idea when I left the show was that if it was appropriate and it would work with the storyline they wanted to do, I would be open—and they would be open—to bringing Casey back,” Spencer tells NBC Insider. “The storyline [in Episode 18] does allude to Casey sort of eyeing whether he could actually move back to 51. Can he potentially, in the future, rekindle his relationship with Brett [Kara Killmer] and start that fire again? We’re ‘gonna have to see. Casey’s looking at it; it’s a potential thing, but we just don’t know right now. We’ll leave that to the future. We’ll throw it to the gods and see what they say.”
As for what else is in store, showrunner Andrea Newman tells TV Line, “There will be some time jump going into the premiere, and viewers and 51 are in it together. There have been big changes, and the 51 gang is on a rollercoaster ride throughout the episode trying to navigate all of it.”
She also teased, “There will be a new firefighter joining Truck 81, but not for the reasons anyone thinks,” Newman said. “Of course, the newbie will be trouble with a capital T — but is it the good kind or the bad kind? We’ll find out….”
