Why Stella Kidd Never Called or Texted Kelly Severide, According to Actor Miranda Rae Mayo
Stella Kidd is back in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 — and actor Miranda Rae Mayo explained why she didn’t bother to communicate with Kelly Severide prior to her return.
NBC’s One Chicago fans can gear up for Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 10. In episode 9, Stella Kidd returned to a shocked Kelly Severide. And it seems fans will watch as conflict arises between the couple. More recently, Kidd actor Miranda Rae Mayo talked about Kidd abandoning Severide and not texting or calling him while she worked on her Girls on Fire program. Here’s what she said.
Does Kelly Severide marry Stella Kidd? Their romance seems rocky in the ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 Episode 10 promo
Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd got engaged in the past, but their relationship got complicated in Chicago Fire Season 10. Kidd left Chicago to pursue her Girls on Fire program outside of the city, and it put a massive strain on her romance with Kelly Severide. Finally, in Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 9, she returned — but Severide didn’t look too happy to see her. Given what we’ve seen so far, it doesn’t look like marriage is in their immediate future.
The promo for Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 10 shows Severide and Kidd picking up right where their relationship left off in episode 9.
“You just stopped calling me back,” Severide tells Kidd during the promo video. “You just left.”
“I screwed up,” Kidd admits. “I panicked because I don’t need to lock my future down just yet.”
Then, Severide asks Kidd if she’s dating someone else. Kidd doesn’t respond in the promo.
Stella Kidd actor Miranda Rae Mayo explained why Stella Kidd didn’t call or text Kelly Severide
Stella Kidd actor Miranda Rae Mayo talked to CinemaBlend about her character’s thoughts. In Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 10, Kidd will have to reconcile with the fact that she abandoned Kelly Severide.
“I think, honestly, he was talking about how the lieutenant’s position was open, and she was like, ‘Oh my god, OK. I have to choose right now.’ And she froze,” Mayo explained. “She didn’t have an answer, and rather than communicating to him, like ‘This is what’s going on.’ All the while, she’s in the midst of running the [Girls on Fire] program, and her days are packed. I think she just wasn’t sure.”
Additionally, Mayo notes Kidd likely wanted to talk to Severide face-to-face about her feelings — but this, of course, led her to not calling or texting, either.
“[H]ave you ever had it where it’s like, you haven’t texted someone back but you know that everything’s OK, even though they don’t, and then it gets to the point where it’s like, ‘Oh, sh*t, it’s been so long and now it’s rude, even though I wasn’t trying to be rude,’?” Mayo added. “And so I think that rather than texting him back or calling him back at this point, she was just like, ‘I gotta get home. I gotta get home. And I got to talk to him face to face.’”
Stella Kidd’s storyline will extend beyond her relationship with Kelly Severide this season
While Stella Kidd and Kelly Severide certainly have a lot to work out in Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 10, the rest of the season will also show Kidd back at the firehouse. Viewers who watched episode 9 know Jason Pelham will now become the lieutenant of the firehouse. It seems possible Kidd may try to get the position again, as she was first in line for it before she left for Girls on Fire. Also, fans will fully see Kidd back in action as a firefighter.
“Season 10, I’m very excited to see Stella’s journey in agreeing and saying, ‘Yes, I do want to show up fully as a leader in my community,’ and trusting that she can,” Mayo added during her interview. “I just look forward to watching Stella let herself win.”
