‘Yellowstone’ Fans Say They “Can’t Wait” As Kevin Costner Debuts His New Project

As the Paramount Network series prepares to say goodbye after season 5 part 2 in November, the Oscar winner is busy working on his upcoming project Horizon: An American Saga. In addition to co-writing and starring in the film, he’s also back in the director’s chair for the first time since directing the 2003 film Open Range.

Kevin went on Instagram to share a sneak peek at what’s to come, posting the three-minute trailer for the first installment in what’s expected to be a four-film franchise. As he excitedly shared, the first chapter of Horizon: An American Saga is expected to hit the box office early this summer.

“This summer the American Saga begins,”he captioned the clip also posted on YouTube on February 26. “Horizon: An American Saga — Only in Theaters June 28.”

When folks noticed Kevin dropping hints about his new gig, they immediately rushed to the comments to share their excitement.

“Wow, the movie looks great. I can’t wa it to see. ,” one person exclaimed on Instagram. “Oh my Kevin I can’t wait to see this. I adore your films. Thank you ,” another wrote. “Unbiased opinion: this looks like it could be the greatest film of all time,” a different follower added.

As for what Horizon: An American Saga is about, Kevin told Variety in June 2022 the epic franchise will follow a 15-year period amid America’s Western frontier and will center around “settlers as well as the Indigenous groups that first occupied the land.” What’s more, the movie series will star a plethora of famous actors, including Giovanni Ribisi, Sienna Miller and Luke Wilson. And if that wasn’t enough, Kevin’s 15-year-old son Hayes (who he shares with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner) is set to make his acting debut as the younger version of his dad’s character. Hayes can be seen in a portion of the above trailer as well.

“Hayes plays the namesake character that I actually play in the movie,” Kevin told People back in 2022. “He’s 13 years old and the screenplay’s been around longer than that… I kind of did it on purpose, so he could be hanging out with me. I’m like any other parent, I’m trying to figure out, like, ‘This is really neat. You should come be with me.’”
